The following is the text of one of several similar advertisements in the Belfast Telegraph this evening. Are you, like me, touched by this display of simple faith?

"Saint Clare
Ask St Clare for 3 favours, 1 business, 2 impossible, say nine Hail Mary's for nine days before a lighted candle. Pray whether you believe or not.
Publish on the ninth day.
Powerful Novena.
May the Sacred Heart of Jesus be praised, adored, glorified and loved throughout the world forever, Amen.
Your request will be granted no matter how impossible it may seem.
P.S. "

Who was Saint Clare and who cares? I feel a poem coming on......

Not exactly a major saint I would suggest. Isn't that on the turf of St Jude, the begging of favours, a delusional act that besets the Catholic faith.

I believe she was St Francis of Assisi's squeeze...
There are, I see, Sandy, five St Clares to choose from.

I assume you mean of Assisi. How many saints can a city have, it's almost as bad as politicians?
If it works for the person who put the advertisement in, just let 'em get on with it. No harm being done to any of us.
Nailit, whether it worked or not the thought that it could gave my mum a lot of comfort and that was the main thing.
