Could we do as the Samoans did 2 years ago and switch our driving to the other side of the road? The cost of altering the signage and access roads would be more than compensated by a sales surge in left hand drive vehicles.

By doing so we could show what good Europeans we are

There are enough idiots driving on the left here now Rov, how many more deaths are there going to be when & if we change over?
"Being European doesn't mean being all the same"

Such sacrilege! get to the corner and read the last years worth of the Mail as punishment!
There's a lot more to alter than just signage and access roads, Rov1100!

Unless you expect passengers to board in the middle of the road, every single bus in the country would need to be replaced!
But with so much spare money about why would anyone need to take a bus, they'd all be happy in their new cars, surely?
It is also illegal to play hockey left-handed. Has anyone seen a left-handed flute?
I'm not a European.. I'm British.. so I'm allowed to endure the M25, M40 and M42 on the 'proper' side.. surely! and on occasion take over 4 hours to do so... (or am I European and no-one blabbed?!)

With most of Europe being given billions of Euros for bailing them out why just not give them a few more and let them change the side they drive on?
Thanks Buenchico.....I'm not fooled by your skullduggery:-)
Slight problem that all our buses have doors on the left.

The idea is not new or groundbreaking and has been discussed ever since Sweden decided to switch over. Tony Blair had a department to do blue sky thinking which produced some strange results. However to always think in a constrictive way there would be no change to anything. Another name given was 'out of the box', These are a prerequisite for any future inventors and scientists. Who would believe for instance there were black holes in the universe which today seem quite natural? The inventor of the hovercraft named Cockerill was thought barmy at the time. There are numerous instances.

Many motorway junctions are carefully designed for the flows, and would not work in reverse.
