Go on, hit me with it... What are you having this festive Sunday?

We are having Beef Wellington, braised red cabbage, balsamic roasted carrots, sprouts a la Gordon Ramsey (shredded and sauteed with.pancetta and grated chestnuts and finished off with cream), minted peas, roasties and gravy.

Tonight I will be serving stilton, cave aged gruyere, somerset brie, cornish goats cheese, mountain comte, Albacete manchego and Ossau-Iraty with bread and biscuits.

We have Duval Leroy fizz and Raven's Wood Californian Zinfandel to accompany.

How about you?

Merry Christmas all. X x

Just focus on the good memories and I am sure those around you will keep you more than busy. Is that Stroud as in Gloucestershire, home of a fine pint of Waddies...especially there 12X if they are still brewing that? They recently featured 6X at my local here, a countryside pub near Truro.
It is indeed the Stroud in Gloucestershire! The festival is on a part of the Stroudwater Navigation Canal that we are restoring. It's going to be a good weekend!
Good idea - Handel's Water Music perhaps?
Question Author
That sounds delightful, WBM.
Turkey with all the trimmings yum!
Capon with tarragon and lemon, roast & mashed tatties, stir-fried sprouts with chestnuts, plus the usual trimmings.
Question Author
Sounds yummy, guys.

I kind of wish I was having turkey but I didn't want to do it just for the two of us.
I am having beef wellington tomorrow.
Today is the turkey with all the trimmings and three different types of stuffings and also three different puddings to cater for everyone's taste.
Plenty of wines, asti, port and spirits to wash it all down.
Later if anyone is still hungry we shall have prawns with dips and tex mex platter!
Well I'm having turkey, NoMercy, and there's only one of me!
(The larger Morrison's stores sell sliced cooked turkey breast, carved from the bone. It just needs a few minutes of warming through, wrapped in foil. It's a lot easier than cooking!)

So it will be honey-roast turkey with sausage-&-bacon wraps, pork-cranberry-&-orange sausagemeat stuffing, Yorkshire puddings, marmalade-glazed parsnips, garlic & herb wedges, mustard mash, cauliflower, broccoli, carrots and sprouts, served with chicken-&-sage gravy.

That will be followed by Panettone pudding, topped with extra-thick cream.

With the whole lot accompanied by a 2006 Gran Reserva Rioja.

Your menus sound terrific, Buenchico and Funny.

Will you guys have pre-dinner drinky poos?

I really want a rioja now! I am a bit disappointed with my Zinfandel (it's breathing right now).
Lobster bisque
Roast chicken and gammon
Sprouts, mixed roast root vegetables
cauli broccolli and sausagemeat and chestnut stuffing sherry and raspberry trifle cheese and oatcakes and a long nap
Question Author
I'd need a long nap after all that...

The lobster bisque is making me hungry.
Pre-luncheon booze, NoMercy?

Well I might get tempted by a whisky mac. Otherwise it will have to be beer, with a choice of dark ale, golden ale or chocolate & vanilla stout.

Rowanwitch:
That sound nice butI'm never too sure about trying chestnut stuffing. I love the taste of roast chestnuts but I only need to consume half of one to get violent stomach pains
Question Author
I shall be sipping a glass or two of champers whilst overseeing the cooking... :-)
We are going next door for a neighbourhood Christmas Dinner - it should be good fun! We have turkey with all the trimmings - we're doing the sprouts with bacon and chestnuts, and we're in charge of the cheese board - which unlike you, NoM, is following straight on from the dinner. We may be some time!!
sherry so far but might be mulling some wine some time soon
Dinner was a big success , everyone happy, Even the 'Organic Man' .
I 'accidentally' neglected to tell him I covered his organic Guinea Fowl in Morrison's non organic bacon to cook it ! Removed the bacon before he arrived and he was none the wiser, even complimented me on my cooking.
Bought a bottle of Champagne with him as well ! ( organic of course) ,mind you he drank 6 cans of Fosters (aka,Skippy P*ss) , is that organic ?, before eating the Guinea Fowl !!!!!!!
Longlife pan fried potato's, half a tin of baked beans, & 2 fried eggs. Mmmm.
We had antipasto (salamis, prawns, olives, mozzarella etc)

Then we had home-made lobster ravioli

Then turkey, rib of beef and glazed ham with roasties, we also had sprouts a la Gordon, parmesan parsnips a la Delia, and red cabbage

Then sticky toffee tart with butterscotch sauce, christmas pud, Chocolate log, Panettone bomb, trifle, and a gingerbread house

Then a heap of different cheeses, bread and biscuits.

It was amazing and we didnt leave the table until almost midnight lol

I haven't been able to eat all day but I'm sure I will manage some leftovers later lol

Hope you all had a lovely day xx
