For the last week or so I have been unable to send a text message.

It is not a signal issue as I can make callsand use internet unhindered, and yet everytime I attempt to send a text, it bounces back "message not sent" or "message failed".

I have been all through the settings but can't find an obvious solution.

It's a Samsung Galaxy if that helps.

Are you getting texts in?
Question Author
Yes, Terry.
Have you phoned your providers help line?

I am going to try now.

They are open from 8.
I have one of those phones and have been unable to find a network for a few days. I might go and Google the problem once I actually wake up properly.

I am on Tesco Mobile.
I presume you have already tried rebooting the phone? Mine (HTC Desire S) had a similar 'brainfart' the other day and only a reboot would make it all work again.

I have rebooted. Made four phonecalls to Orange. They have updated my setting, kept me on hold, given me loads of crap advice and I have even done a Master Reset and lost everything on my phone...and I still cant bloody text.
Sounds like orange customer service are a bit crap. I never have problems like that with 02, they even gave me a £10. 00 credit to my bill a few months ago because they kept me on hold (from my landline) for about 15 minutes last time I had problems.
Not much help NoM but you're not alone. If you google samsung galaxy outgoing text problems you'll see many others have had probs. There may be some advice in amongst the carols websitesbthet this will bring up.
Noooo, im getting a Galaxy S11 in a few weeks, they cant be wrong!!
No texting probs on my Galaxy but cannot add more to whatsapp, only have my daughter on it and it won't accept anyone else. They are not the brilliant phones we were led to believe. I also have a HTC wildfire and am waiting to get it unlocked then will sell the Galaxy.
Every phone shop I have been in swear by the Galaxy S11, maybe the S11 is far superior to the older Galaxy, everybody I know with one think they are great.
Same happened to me...it turned out to be the text message service number. Someone must have been messing with my phone and deleted the end digit.

On my phone, Nokia, when you go to message settings, text messages, message centre...it has a number. If that's altered no messages can be sent out.
It's no good NM.....you're just gonna have to shout across to Bob. :o)

Can someone tell me how to use a recorded voice as a ringtone on my Galaxy Ace, it's easy on other phones but not on the Galaxy. There is no option where it is stored.
Daffy what lovely xmassy jelly people.
Thanks neti. :)

Is this any help for your ringtone problem?

I'm not familiar with Samsung smartphones so I have no idea how the different functions work on it.

I tried the message centre number and it was correct so Rita Maureen Kirsty Garam Masala (she kept changing her name) told me it was either the sim card or the handset.

Went to in laws' place and tried my sim in FIL's phone and his sim in mine - neither would permit sening textx.

Now having a walk in the woods and my 3G has changed to a G and suddenly I am able to send texts.
