Anyone else had any suspect dealings with Freecycle? I put something on there last night and I`ve just had an email from someone that I first thought was a female but it is one of those names that can be male. The anwer was "I am interested. Perhaps I have something you would like"? I think I`ll resist the urge to say "Not in a million years, Buddy". I think it might be back to the landfill for me. I`ve had enough of these green issues.

large chest no drawers?

Only some christmas ribbons that I had left over from a big pack of wrapping paper. Maybe it was the thought of tying something up that did it!

In general freecycle is a good thing. My daughter is moderator in her area, and she gets rid of plenty of things. Perhaps the person was genuine, as they do encourage people to be offerers and not just takers.
So should I advertise the mink handcuffs or not then ...?

One time I advertises some little clip picture frames. An enquirer asked me whereabouts I live. I`m always careful not to give them my complete address until I know for sure they are interested. Anyway, I was off work for a week and said I could deliver as I would be in their area. They backed off really quickly under the excuse that they had "got the wrong area". You have to be really carefull. Although it is nearby, this latest enquirer has put their location down as Hampton Wick!

*advertised* not *advertises* (I sound like Pam Ayres)
Mink handcuffs would be better on E bay 'buy it now of £30 for 30 mins'
Our local one is brilliant. Never had a problem either getting rid of stuff or requesting it.
You don't think it could be genuine 237SJ? I have considered replying to one of these as I could do with a monitor for an old computer I'm not sure is working, and don't want to shell out a lot to find out it isn't. I tend to think I would want to offer the person something in return - like chocolates or wine, rather than just take it. Could this have been what they meant?
I saw someone offering a "Well used mattress heavily stained with semen".....
Surely someone edits these pages before they're posted......?
Use our local Freegle (yahoo site) both to donate and request items. Had a couple of time wasters but nothing serious. Think it's a wonderful way to keep goods out of landfill.
I think Freecycle has a strict 'no payment' policy-so even if chocolates or wine were offered,it's probably against the rules.
Freecycle is a great concept. You can dispose of goods you no longer need and somebody is always willing to take them. You don't offer something in return nor do you expect. I've given away lots of stuff, knowing that some is probably going to car boot, but, hey, I don't want it any more and it would otherwise have ended up in the bin. I've also secured one lot of items in particular which was very welcome for a relative. No offer was made to secure, but suggested to family member collecting it that a box of chocolates would be nice and was very welcome. Freecycle is good so don't be too sensitive to odd-ball responses.
I have got rid of several loads of waste wood and a wood lathe in pieces which I would otherwise have had to have a skip for - £100 at the very least - so I am well pleased with recycle. I know the world is not nice but sometimes I think we are too suspicious of one another. Or perhaps some would think I am too naive and we should be suspicious. You have to make a choice.
