AB and EBay

I listed some lawn bowls on EBay the other day. Ever since, the adverts down the right hand side of my AnswerBank pages have been links to other people trying to sell bowls on EBay. Coincidence? Or is there some kind of link between the two?

Some of our adverts will be re-targeted. So, you visit eBay, eBay give you a cookie when you log in. eBay also buy some ad-space through our partners, when you come here the cookie says "Show some eBay please!" - and it does.

This is as close to understand it I've ever got :)

We have nowhere near the amount of information on our users as Facebook does. We're very rudimentary compared to them.

The FB program was really good last night at explaining advertising and that. Also, is it just me or is AB and eBay really hard to say? Lol :-)

And ed, I'm delighted to hear that you don't do what fb does. Whatever they say, their information seems to be available to others. At least, my spam levels have soared since I joined.

Yes I've noticed this - not particularly with AB

On one site I'm getting ads for some items I browsed a few days ago - unfortunately they are too late. I bought them from a competitor tha same day....

So the technology's been wasted.

At least those Kenny-looking monstrosities have gone from AB.....

I now live in NZ permanently(?) and get mostly NZ adverts on the right.
