booking.com supposedly only allows people who have booked through them to review the hotels, so you should not get any of the problems reported with trip adviser

We have always used booking.com and have booked about 25-30 hotels through them after reading the guest reviews. Only once was the place not as good as expected. Several were better than expected!

I booked with booking.com, the reviews were ok, the hotel was just awful!......maybe things changed after the reviews were posted???? but it was just rubbish, would never go there again!..........
