Byron's recipe for dealing with a hangover begins, 'Ring for your valet, bid him quickly bring some hock and soda water'. Can anyone improve on this ? - my valet seems to have disappeared this morning.

Maybe I exaggerated a little regarding the cheese.

Also, beetroot & carrot juice with a squeeze of lime, a dash of Tabasco and lots of ground black pepper cures pretty much anything for an hour or so. Fights of the demons for a little bit - which is just enough time to be productive before crashing out again.
Dave, It can't be any old snifter, though. You wouldn't really want a glass of dry white wine, when you've got a mouth like Gandhi's flip flop.
No indeed flip - you have the wisdom of youth ;)

Large VaT clears the palate nicely :)

Angostura Bitter, revolting but cures in minutes.

lots of bananas (rich in potassium), ibruprofen, solid food, lots of water.
A big fry up with a bottle if Irn Bru should do it :-)
Some years ago, the New Scientist magazine did a survey on hangover cures and preventions.
Hair of the dog really does work, but only briefly. It only postpones the reckoning rather than cancelling it out.
Water helps, but the Top Answer is N-acetyl cysteine.
Take 2 capsules or tablets of this before boozing - result - a miracle. no hangover. It is a bit expensive - a bottle of them can cost over £20
