I popped into Tesco a while ago and whilst using the self service checkouts heard the two employees who were stood by me chatting say something like "only white people would.....". I hadn't been listening to their conversation, it was just that bit that caught my ear and when they realised I was listening starting talking very quietly so I didn't hear the end of the sentence.

I was so near to asking what it was that only white people would do but decided to mind my own business. Would you have made anything of it? (neither of them was white if that has any baring to you).

No, I wouldn't Evian....
would be curious of course but would put to down to something I would never find out :-)
I would have walked over and said (quite loudly) "only white people would what?"

I'm a nosey cow though :)
No - I would be too busy trying to fathom out the self service system - its weighing the fruit that foxes me.........(:o((

Yes, I was very curious. Just couldn't bring myself to do it.

Ha ha Towie, it was only a paper and a jar of bisto. I just about managed with them.
I probably would have asked, yes.
I love the self service system - its like playing 'shops' when you were little....
Only white people would have the nerve to ask what our private conversation is about.
Only white people would use sunbeds (not true, btw)
Only white people would get a brown tattoo
no, I wouldnt, I would deem it as non of my business.

Barry, a private conversation should be had in a private place, not a foot away from your customers.

Maybe they were saying, "only white people will be wondering what I'm about to say about white people"
No I wouldn't ask...
No ... Why?
You weren't privy to the whole conversation ..
and it might not have been a racist discussion anyway (as that's what you're getting at)
That was my idea of humour.

Obviously a fail :(

Well yes that had crossed my mind Al. I'm sure if the tables were turned the same might have been wondered.

I would have demanded an explanation, or called the manager.
I wouldn't have done anyhing. I'm usually in a world of my own and have my blinkers on when I'm shopping.
Ni I wouldn't - that would have been so rude to ask them what they were talking about IMO - also they are entitled to say what they like in a private conversation. Why do people get so het up about "politically incorrect" situations - why not live and let live, life's too short!
Nah, I'm not generally that interested in other peoples conversations, plus I'd probably have had my earfones in anyway!
