Having a whinge

Just "celebrated" my 50th b day with family. Rented a lovely house, had a great meal and much fun. Problem was that everyone upped sticks as soon as X factor started and stared like zombies at the TV! Killed the party dead.

Should I have expected more? I was right peed off at the time..........what happened to conversation? Or a card game?

Perhaps I'm just out of touch. I still feel a little bit let down, truth be told.

Cheers Vulcan, much appreciated. When did TV get SO important? Especially as most of us have the means to tape the blasted thing. It's not like it was an important sporting event (I'd have gone along with that).
