No predictable gags, please.

Crumpets are just SOOOO comforting, aren't they.

I've just wolfed three, with oodles of melty butter.

So bang goes the healthy food plan for this week!

When you're chowing down on warm crumpets, you feel as though nothing bad can happen.

Only good things.

It's like being in the jeans dept. at Harvey Nichols - only good things can happen.

I know how Holly G felt, standing outside Tiffany's.

What could be more reassuring that hot, melty buttered crumpets?

I wonder if I can manage another one? There were six in the packet.

Regarding sweet and sour, we used to be given grated cheese and marmalade or marmite and marmalade on our breakfast toast at school.
I love crumpets and toasted muffins, both very comforting.
mmmm, crumpets are one of the best inventions ever!

Even better with a slather of lemon curd over the top.
coccinelle, pikelets are flat but crumpets are thick - they aren't the same thing. It's really hard to get pikelets down south and I miss them :(
I like crumpets and haggis!
Haggis in Devon? From what?

Give me the crumpet and some Hogs Puddin'
With many things, 'cheapo' brands are just as good as the dearer ones. Regrettably, that's not true of crumpets. Hovis & Warburton's crumpets are both lovely, but most supermarket ones are rubbish.

The best thing to put on crumpets (along with lashings of butter, of course!)?
HONEY!
I love Haggis as well - but not with crumpets!
Believe it or not DT, I have actually travelled to Scotland, however the Haggis was a gift from a friendly Scot, ive had it a few times over the years, I liked it!!

I do love hogs pudding!!
we do export haggis DT, .........dbut not live ones as that is illegal
I used to hunt them, going around the mountains anti-clockwise as one should....
Live haggis are cute, aren't they, Steg?

They be a bit of a bugger to shoot!! they dont stay still long enough!
Add a slice of tomato and some grated cheese, then grill. Really nice (but still does not beat tons of melted butter)!
Partial to a bit of crumpet in my younger days
We have pikelets when I can find them. Crumpets are sometimes really doughy. I've just left the the fish and chip post........... All this comfort food is driving me potty. I have developed a muffin waist from somewhere, and I have to get it off somehow, soon.
Marks and Spencer very occasionally stock pikelets otherwise I can't find them down here
