How could I forget "Goodnight Mister Tom" starring John Thaw - wonderful!
Gladiator for the yarn, make-up, special effects (esp the Circus) and, og course, Zimmer's music - which I think is his best (see the Classical thread of Bobbi's last night)
Great Expectations with John Mills, Alec Guinness, Lawrence of Arabia, a classic, Oliver Twist with Robert Newton, This Happy Breed.
Not seen a John Ford Western i didn't love.
Pretty Woman
Shawshank
The Green Mile
Cool Runnings
and (TV) Goodnight Mr Tom
rumble fish
Debbie does Dallas (tho' i've never got past the 1st scene yet)
The Legend of 1900
For Love of the Game
An Affair to Remember
The African Queen
Love all the Ealing comedies, Shawshank Redemption, all of Toy Story, The Bucket List, Big, The Green Mile and Love Actually. Could keep going all night.
ET
Breakfast At Tiffany's

Because ...

(1) It has the most memorable opening scene of any film ... ever!

(2) Holly Golightly gave the world the LBD which, more than any other item of clothing, has made "style" accessible to every woman in the Western world. The moment Holly stepped out of that Yellow Cab, the world of women's clothing changed ... forever. Without Breakfast At Tiffany's, we would never have had the LBD.

(3) More than any other character in any other movie, Holly is a survivor. Holly was the original "Commander Ripley".

(4) Holly wants everyone to feel good about themselves. Everyone should follow her example.

(5) The best movie soundtrack ... ever!
