Is a chicken egg really one large cell? I have been reading a lot of conflicting information on ths issue. Thanks!

Yes. The largest human cell is also the egg.
... and the Ostrich egg is the largest single cell on Earth...

The yolk is really the one large cell.


The albumen is goop and just supplies water to the growing chick apparently

Unless fertilization and cell division has begun.

Thanks peeps. I thought the blastodisc was the cell with all the organelles, and that the yolk and white were not really part of it. But I stand corrected.
