Some years ago, I attended a BBQ at the house of one Mr Jules' work colleagues. One of the foods on offer was a sweetcorn based dish, from what I can remember it was a creamy texture, but not creamed corn. It was fairly sloppy. but not a chowder. I was just reminded of this by finding a link to a sweetcorn chowder and it got me thinking about this dish. The people holding the BBQ were Asian, specifically Indian, so it may be a well known Indian dish. I can't ask the people concerned as we are no longer in touch. Anyone got any ideas, if it's not too high in calories, I would love to have a go at re-creating it.

Sounds a little like succotash, perhaps?
Try Googling makai nu shaak, it might ring a bell for you. You don't say if the dish you had was spiced or not so it's difficult to advise further.

Eccles, I don't remember it being spicy, but we were having it with bbq'd kebabs etc, so it may have been. I have googled your suggestion and looked at some images, there seems to be quite a significant difference in the pictures, some look like the dish I remember, others are nothing like it. I did find a similar looking dish called Makai no chevdo which has the same sort of ingredients as the one you suggested, but no peanuts. I don't remember there being peanuts in the original dish.
