Blooming conjunctivitus

I'm out of golden-eye ointment and optrex,

Would a salt-water solution with cotton wool do? I've not used cotton wool for ages and forget if it sticks. The salt-water solution I can do but have no eye-bath.It really is annoying me. Thank you

alba, think that cotton wool is not a good idea!......just try washing out your eyes with clear water, and then go see the chemist in the morning!......
thats what i use with the kids until i can get to chemists. if cotton wool is wet enough it wont stick
Question Author
Will soak the cotton wool and attack with the water. Many thanks

(It is a pain in the proverbial tonsils) xx
Oh alba, I know, it's horrid!..........hope you can get it sorted tomorrow!....until then just keep bathing them!...........all you can do!........
alba, poor you. I have not (yet) had conjunctivitus but swear by using cold, dripping wet, spent tea bags on my eyes to relieve them of terrible hayfever irritation and general soreness/tiredness. They always bring me relief. Wish them better soonest x
Question Author
Have just soaked them (well damped really) with fresh water and a clean cloth. What a difference.!!!

Many thanks, it has taken the sting out of them and I can see Johnny Depp (Channel 5 btw!!) Will be attacking the chemist tomorrow (again)

Now, about my abscess..... (I'm falling to bits)
not the most apropos avatar I have ever seen, ttfn, for the suffering alba. (Not that she can see)

I love ttfn's avatars. when I saw ttfn's earlier I just had to giggle in a very unladylike manner (just this once you understand!)
In my defence, DT, I changed my av days ago, so ner ner ;)
alba - you - unladylike? thudddddddddddddddd
I know that - my eyes aren't gungy like alba's, poor thing...

couldn't resist; the juxtaposition was wonderful.

Now, if you want to talk about gunky, the abscess attempted to drain itself a few days ago (I did post about it lol) and it is in a very ladylike place:p
<<keep dark and say nuffink>>
clean panties is all I say to that.........

commando
Conjuntivitis? Who has made the diagnosis?
Is it allergic or bacterial i.e does it itch a lot or not?

The treatment will depend upon the answers.

Sorry about the abscess.
Question Author
Didn't itch as much last night sqad, as it did the last time I complained about it, just gunky. I'm thinkinig allergy now.

Ho-hum off to the doc's I'll be going....

I'll 'em about the abscess too. Oh the joys of being ever so slightly over 21 :)
If it's a sticky greenish type discharge which gives awful matted lids on waking it's most likely to be a bacterial conjunctivitis. Just clean and bathe with cooled boiled water regularly as it's usually a self limiting condition which resolves in 7-10 days whether treated with topical meds or not.
Allergic conjunctivitis is typically itchy with more of a watery discharge and more commonly affects both eyes straight away.
Hope this helps.
