I just noticed on Facebook a friend put the following and it seems odd to me.

"Opened a door on my big toe at work. Bled quite a bit and got dressing on it. Got to send clippings from it in 6-8 weeks to check for infection. If there is then got to take one tab of antibiotic once a day for 9-12 months"

Check for infection in 6-8 weeks and then 9-12 months of anti-biotics? Not that I'm calling her a liar but I've never heard of anything like that before.

I was once on antibiotics for 7 months. I'd had an infection (an abscess) and though it was drained, more kept appearing, every time I stopped taking the pills; so I kept on with a low dose for months afterward until I crossed my fingers and stopped.
