I need IE 6.7.8.0r 9 and I have chrome

I have some software I need to access via IE 6,7,8,9 as it is only compatible with these but because I have chrome when I try to install off microsofts website it says it cannot because there is a more up to date software ie chrome.
Can I not have a separate IE programme I can launch separately to chrome?

You've certainly got me confused!
I can't believe that Microsoft is going to stop you accessing its software just because you've already got a third-party program on your PC! (You can have as many browsers as you like on your computer. Mine has got IE, Firefox and Chrome but I could add others as well if I wanted to).
Further, I find it hard to believe that you've not got at least IE6 on your computer, since IE6 was introduced just before Windows XP came out. So, as long as your PC is running Windows XP or later (such as Vista or 7) you've already got what you want!
Check out the icons at the bottom left of your screen to see if Internet Explorer is there. Otherwise check under Start > Programs to look for it. (On my PC it's not in the main alphabetical list; it's among the programs listed towards the end).

I just tied to install IE9 from Yahoo and it said it was installed it shows the logo down on my tool bar but says that i have to restart to use it whether i click restart now or restart later the logo disappears and I can't find it in programs and if a search it doesn't turn up, what the hell is happening it says it is installed but it isn't.

The European Union's legal teams spent many years arguing (eventually successfully) that Microsoft was guilty of anti-competitive practices by including its own browser (Internet Explorer) within Windows. Microsoft eventually responded by separating Internet Explorer from the Windows operating system, while continuing to supply it as standard unless a customer specifically ordered a system without IE. To the best of my knowledge, nobody has ever taken up that option, so anyone who has Window 7 should have Internet Explorer 8 (unless they've later upgraded to version 9).
This page, from the Microsoft website, specifically states that IE8 comes with Windows 7:

So you appear to have purchased a laptop where someone along the supply chain (Sony? the retailer?) has entered into an agreement with Google (who supply Chrome) to provide their product as standard and, further, to block the downloading of an alternative browser. (I still find that hard to believe!).
Try downloading IE8 or 9 from here:

If that doesn't work (and you've got access to another computer) try downloading the set-up file on a different computer, saving it to external media (such as a USB stick or DVD) and then copying it onto your computer.

If you've already got a version of IE on your computer then you might be able to upgrade it simply by downloading the most recent update. But if IE isn't there to start with you'll definitely need to download the installation program AND then RUN that program to complete the installation.
Run a search for *.exe
(That finds every executable file on your laptop).
When you see the results, click on the 'Date modified' header until the list is displayed with the most recent dates first. If you can see the file which you've just downloaded, double-click on it to run it. That should install Internet Explorer.

I dont understand why you have to have all these browsers you only need one that is IE8 which will do all you need .I wouldn't advise IE9 at present until you sort out your problem. I know from experience that once you put Chrome on it will cause grief to your other browsers. I would uninstall it by using Revo Uninstaller and see if you can get IE8 to work properly. I would also do a repair on your updates and make sure you have SP1 installed which should help stabalise things.
I would be very surprised if your system does not include IE8. The fact that your system says it has a later version when you try to install confirms this. (This message is not talking about Chrome.)

I would then expect to see a folder called 'Internet Explorer'. If it's there, double-click on it. Then look for the icon with a big blue 'e' on it. Double-clicking it will open Internet Explorer but it might make more sense to create a shortcut at this stage. Right-click and select 'Create Shortcut'. Drag the newly-created shorcut beyond the edge of the window, onto your desktop.
