As a last resort, have you considered having them made?
If you have a custom motorbike repair shop near your place, they may well be able to help you.
Oh yes, in my experience breakfast bars can take upwards of three years to build. ;)

thank you for your replies .. and i hope its not another 3 years lol

Why not just buy some chrome tubing (it comes in assorted lengths, say 0.5m, 1.0m, 1.5m, 2.0m and in different diameters etc) and cut it to the length you require. Then all you need to do is add a pair of flanges - fix one end to the underside of your worktop and the other end to the floor. You might need to adjust your cut length of tubing to take into account the thickness of the flanges.

The site that ChuckFickens mentions is one I was about to suggest !
They sell them at Homebase, I bought one recently for about 20. They are height adjustable too.

thanks for that , I will give them a call in morning .. cheers x
Easy answer as we had similar last week. Go to B&Q buy a Stainless Steel curtain pole and then buy two wall fittings from the same area. Fix first fitting to base of work surface put second fitting on to end of pole fit top of pole into top fitting then screw the fitting to the floor. By doing this you will save a fortune on having to buy the exact same product in the kitchen department. Good luck
