After spending all day yesterday at Southend hospital with my 88 year old dad,I feel I must praise them for their professional care. Dad was admitted on Saturday with agonising pains in his abdomen. He was given an emergency op yesterday afternoon and it turned out to be a very angry looking appendix. The care to my dad and the thoughtfulness to my sister and myself was excellent.WELL DONE SOUTHEND HOSPITAL 10/10 *****

yes, don't believe everything you read in the papers.
Nice to hear some praise about an NHS hospital for once....
I find that, in emergency situations, A&E etc, hospitals come into their own.
I have had nothing but care and thoughtfulness whenever I have had dealings with hospitals. This is in Bristol at Southmead Hospital for myself and Bristol Royal Infirmary where my husband passed away.
that's lovely mumsie, I hope your Dad makes a speedy recovery.
Can I echo what mumsie said, I live in Southend and only 5 mins from the hospital. When I was rushed in with Heart Failure last Nov.the care, treatment, & attention I recieved was second to non. Well done Southend Hospital again. ♥♥

Well done.....but that is what hospitals are there for......to provide the best available care.

Yes indeed, it is good to be able to praise people in their work. My sister and myself are so thankful to them all for making our Dad better. He is such a lovely man, never complains, a real joy to be around. We are so lucky to have him as our Dad. Bobbisox, thankyou, and I'm sure he will soon be up and running again.(well maybe not running)!!!!
^^^^ I totally agree, I have had a few operations and procedures over the years as has Carakeel, the treatment was always first class with the exception of one, Carakeel was "mistakenly" given a general anesthetic instead of a local anesthetic for an operation on her hand. this was particularly dangerous for Carakeel has she has died on the operating table twice before due to problems with the anesthetic, fortunately they managed to bring her back.
blimey, did she not realise she was getting an anaesthetic?

Blimey RATTER.you certainly go for the hyperbole.

Oh dear Ratter15, that was a bit scarey.glad it all turned out OK.
All credit the the staff at the "coal face" who soldier on despite interference from on high, says my nurse consultant lass.
Good to hear mumsie - I hope Dad makes a speedy recovery and is home again soon.

I hope you've posted this somewhere where the hospital are likely to see it too? It will make their day to read it I'm sure.

My son is visiting dad this afternoon, and he says he is feeling so much better, but not allowed to eat anything yet. But for an 'oldun' it was quite a big op, coz they didn't know what they would find. But alls well :-)
