I was playing silly buggers with my step son earlier. Somehow my ring finger on my left hand got bent back at the joint nearest the tip. I cannot now move it. it is hugely swollen (i am dipping it in ice cold liquid at present). the tip on the underside has, in the space of about 3 hours gone a really horrid black colour.

Do I a) just drink more alcohol and hope that it doesn't get any worse
b) go to casualty and see what they say or
c) something else

TBH the pain is bloody excrutiating. I've actually strapped it to my third finger because I can manage to type like that. But if I catch it, it brings tears to my eyes.

The fact that you have had some alcohol isn`t the worst thing in the world it`s just that (I think) you need more anaesthetic if you have been drinking (at least with general anaesthtic anyway)

From where I am sitting, it is a good thing!!!

Neighbour on phone, he will come round in a mo.
Well you could always look on the bright side. If you hadn`t had shed loads of plonk, it would hurt an awful lot more!

exaxtly my point 237!!!! I've done myself some damage whilst under the influence and it didn't bloody hurt like this. When I am sober, I am kind of a bit worried as to how much it will really hurt. THe oh just touched it and I nearly smacked him one with the other hand.
IMO (which is non medical) you've probably dislocated it. you should get yourself to hospital to get it checked though, and now (after a few drinks) is going to be a lot less painful than doing it tomorrow.
I've read all these posts: is that it? was it broken or dislocated? did A&E ground her for drinking too much on a Friday night? did they fix it with the curtains open as a lesson to other Friday night drinkers? ......what HAPPENED?

lol Terry. I called NHS direct on Sat morning. They did recommend a MI unit but the nearest one is 15 miles away and I had no way of getting there. I decided to strap it up and take ibuprofen. It's now only strapped up part time and the swelling has reduced as has the pain, so I think we are getting there.

Btw, it wasn't (unusually for me) a miscellaneous drinking injury - I did it at the park with my stepson. It was only afterwards that I had a couple of glasses of wine (although it probably would have hurt less had i done after said wine!!)
