Belloc's "Tarantella" begins, "Do you remember an Inn, Miranda?" Miranda in THE TEMPEST is a castaway. (Maybe: no mermaid in Belloc that I can find.)
1D - yes, it's Miranda. Just for the record -mermaid being mentioned - there was film (1950s I think) called MIRANDA with Glynis Johns - she was a mermaid.
