making a predetermined series of steps and body movements in time to music. 11 letters .E...I.H...
Terpsichore fits, but does not match the clue. Problem is, the clue setter quite often gets things wrong.

terpsichore
Why don't you think it fits the clue? Terpsichore is dance.
********** has a point: Terpsichore was the muse of dance - the dictionary doesn't support the name being used to mean dancing itself (obviously there's the adjective terpsichorean too). I agree - dodgy clue.

I think the answer is terpsichory

I agree, the clue setter often gets it wrong.

according to the oed  terpsichore not only the muse but also "dancing as an art"
Interesting - nothing in Chambers at all.
If anybody thinks Michal Mepham "often" gets things wrong why not e-mail him and tell him so? [email protected].
