does anyone know if you can fit a bmw 328 coupe wing mirror onto a 318is coupe, and the other way round would also imply

If it's the same body code coupe and approx the same year then I would have thought so.

grand. i got a wing mirror off a bmw e36 but it didnt fit, so i figured it was off a saloon

I may be wrong .. but I would expect the coupe doors to be different.

The coupe doors are bigger but the fitting is the same.

If its E36 you're on about; door mirrors can be interchanged between the Saloon and Touring or the Coupe and Convertible. The windscreen on the Coupe/Convertible has a more swept angle than that of the Saloon/Touring.
