I am after ideas of unusual things to send to my daughter who has gone to Afghan for the first time to surprise and delight her !

Don't worry after she's been there for a while, she'll be sending you a list of things that she's missing..........
I would recommend you check what is allowed before buying. There are quite strict rules. Some sort of sweets would probably be unavailable where she is. Not chocolate though... it would melt and be grotty.
I have an old pre-decimal penny that I consider a lucky piece and always take to exams, interviews etc. The coin feels really nice to the touch. I found mine in the street, but you can buy them cheaply on ebay and for a little more they do nice shiny or unused ones. It would remind her of home.
I'm sure all she needs is a loving letter from her family.
