A couple of hours ago I came back to the computer after a short break and noticed that there was a message on the screen 'Windows is restarting'. It took a while to get back to normal, and I've had to sign on again to all password-protected websites. I've since run Malwarebytes, with 'no objects infected'. I have Norton Security installed and OS is Windows 7. Any idea what might have happened, please?

Tearinghair yes, probably nothing to worry about. Every now and again I get a message saying "we're going to restart you in 10 minutes, to complete upgrades" - if I forget to tell it to go away, it closes everything down and restarts, just as you describe.

Thanks Boxtops. It hasn't happened to me before (except possibly overnight), but this time I didn't have to sign in again to Windows itself. I recently upgraded to Service Pack 1 so maybe that's something to do with it.
Windows error ... automatic restart. Normal.

Thank you, Albags. I've never seen that particular error before and wondered if it was an attempt to hack into the computer, though Norton usually warns me of that. Relieved to know it's nothing worse. Some sites not loading very well today either.
