At the risk of starting a mobile phone war......
My contract is up in a month and I was wondering if anone has any opinion on which operating system ithe best!!

I currently have an Android phone (HTC Hero), and absolutly love it, but I really like the idea of the camera quality on the N8, which I know runs on Symbian. Now that is pretty much as far as my knowledge for this sort of technology stops, so I'll explain what I want the phone for!

I have a baby, so I love using the camera for little videos and photos of the monkey, and the internet access is important to me.... I like having a mooch on Facebook and being able to "google" things when I'm out and about!! I have a 2 hour train journey to work 3 times a week, so I love games (Things like Angry Birds, Tetris and Bubble Blaster etc.) so I would need an app market like the Android has, with those sorts of things available and also, I need the battery life to be slightly better than the Hero (Although I appreciate that is the phone rather than the OS) I would also like to be able to link it to my email account, although that isn't too important as its only a personal email (not work related!)

I really hope someone can help me with this... I don't want to get the N8 and then be dissapointed with it for the next 18 months and regret giving up my Android :)

Thanks in advance guys

Hi Vickie,

I'm surprised no one has come back to you!

Android is a "proper" smart-phone OS with a great host of app, excellent web-browsing and like like.

The Nokia App store is growing, have a look here: http://store.ovi.com/ and select the N8.

As you say, the N8 has a winning camera, but I am unsure how good the browser is.

You won't have a problem with games on either OS really.

Email is fine on both (actually Nokia's mail for exchange is pretty excellent)

As for battery life... well... the definition of a smartphone is pretty much "a phone you charge every evening" so you're going to be up against is generally. If you're taking a lot of video you're going to drain the thing regardless!

Going for a higher powered android phone might be the safe option.
