Dry Eyelid

Just noticed that I have a bit of a flakey eyelid. I've not been using anything that I don't use normally and rarely wear eyeshadow. I've just put some moisturiser on it which is an eye cream but generally used below the eye and that's just made it itch and sting a little bit. I don't have a fringe at the moment so I can't see how it would be shampoo.

Any suggestions on a not overly priced moisturiser that I could put on my eyelid?

Cheers.

Cant get any cheaper than Vasaline.
Try calendula cream
If your skin is flaky, you need something hydrating as opposed to moisturising.

BTW... that wax is called "Nads". They do a range in boots but I get the one in the red box.
My whole eyes are soooo gritty at the moment, I have drops from the doc, Optrex has gone up to £6 a bottle - o woe...

Cheers all! And thanks for the name NM...

I brought some eye wash from boots for dry eyes, just used it, feels quite nice and am now sporting a rather fetching bright pink alice band to keep all hair back for a while... looking sexy!
You could possibly be having a bout of blepharitis...which is the medical term for inflamed eyelids. "The inflammation is like eczema of the skin, with red, scaly eyelids. You may notice tired, or gritty eyes, which may be uncomfortable in sunlight or a smoky atmosphere. They may be slightly red, and feel as though there is something in them." (Source: WebMD)
The cause is blockage of the small glands in the eyelids that provide lubricant for better tear dispersal... they can become blocked and inflamed.
I've found that (here in the U.S.) the contact lens solution department in your local drug store will have lid wipes... a box of premoistened cotton pads for cleaning the eyelid. I've found that using baby shampoo works just as well. Use two times a day...

The eyelids have tiny glands in them, especially the lower lids. These glands make substances that mix with tears, and help the tears to spread across the eye.

That sounds very like it Clanad, thanks for that, it actually feels like I've been crying excessively or not slept properly, neither of whihc is the case.
Hi China Doll.

Just adding to the conversation as I had blepharitis a couple of years ago. It was only in one eye, and it was a bit like I had permanent sleepy dust all long the length of my eyelid. It didn't hurt, but I could just feel it wasn't quite right.

Anyhoo, I didn't do a lot about it (as I didn't realise what it was) and ended up with a cyst on my eyelid thanks to one of the blocked glands. Ended up having to have it sliced out (ouchie). Best thing to do is just keep it clean. They recommend just cleaning along the edge of the eyelid regularly (I still do, as that eyelid seems to be a bit sensitive). I use a cotton bud dipped in warm water mixed with a tiny drop of baby shampoo. Works well for me.

Hope it's cleared up soon, if it hasn't already!

Thank you!
CD, just use vasaline as HT says, dont go spending money on some fancy priced product in a fancy jar, when good old V can do the job!........Just put it on your lids before you go to bed.
Well, the problem with that advice is that the Vaseline does nothing to clean the already clogged glands which were clogged by oil anyway. So, while the Vaseline might lubricate the lids and lashes, you'd need to clean them first and keep them clean. Like I said, baby shampoo works really good...
