every now and then I get little raised patches of dry skin, usually a red colour and a bit itchy. I'm sure it's to do with diet as opposed to fabric conditioner or anything and they fade after a few weeks but I'm getting a bit fed up with them. I've a teeny one on my eyelid and feel a bit self concious about it. Can anyone think what it could be and how to get rid of it quickly? I usually slap some Germaline on it but I don't want to put it close to my eye.

Hi Morrisonker, I have always suffered with sensitive skin especially on my face, have tried everything. I've had the raised patches that you spoke about, not just on my face but on legs and arms. I have just recently started using E45 Moisturiser.....it's a lot milder than the cream and you can use it as many times a day as you like...... I've tried everything...doctors perescriptions and everything.....but this seems to be working for me..

Hi E45 is a good cream i agree, but my partner and daughter suffer from eczema and use aqueuos bp cream it goes on a lot nicer and isnt as oily. u can buy large tub from chemist for somthing silly like 3
Apart from E45 - Neutrogena products are also excellent for dry skin. Good luck.

Could be a very mild psoriasis. Can be stressed induced, or diet, and can occur after other illness as it seems to come after the white blood cells have been busy.

Any concern with recurring problems should be seen by your GP. It isn't a waste of their time and certainly not if you are getting worried about appearances. They may suggest a chat with a dietician as you could have an allergy that you are unaware of and removing the 'trigger' from the diet will stop the skin problem.

thanks guys :) I have had a bit of a rubbish week, it did occur to me that it could be stress related. I'll check it out. Thanks again.
try keeping a food diary - include absolutely everything that passes your lips - even lip balm and also marke when the flare ups happen - you may be able to pinpoint the same thing each time and then elimate it and see it it goes away
You can rub some oatmeal on your hands before washing them. You can also apply Petroleum jelly is one of the best remedies for dry lips, hands, and feet.
Glycerin oil is also a good remedy for dry skin. Conditioned air is dry and really affects your skin. If you can't avoid sitting in an air conditioned room all day, at least get a humidifier, or keep a bucket half filled with water next to you to humidify the air.
