Has anyone got any experience? Is it any good or not?

How does it work exactly? Can you only use it for calling?

It works very well - two way. It's free.

Haven't yet used it to call landlines or mobiles - need to use credit top-ups. Maybe someone else has tried that?

By "can you use it only for calling" do you mean only for receiving free calls? If you're calling another skype user then you can phone them for free too. There's quite a time delay if calling long distance.
As said above, if you pay, you can use it to call landlines etc.

You can also use it to send type written texts, just like msn messenger!

far far better is http://www.voipcheap.co.uk/en/index.html which allows you to call anyone on a landline free - not just people who are on skype (and I know noone on skype).

The downside is that they can't call you though.

Wait for the SIP stuff to take off properly, then everyone will be using VOIP
