Is such a thing made?

I often attend conferences where I have extensive written notes regarding the issues to be discussed. The work is confidential and unless I choose to discuss matters in my notes, the notes must remain confidential. Unfortunately, I sit between two people who have a habit of glancing at my notes and an information leak has recently occurred.

To try to stop this continuing, I’m trying to obtain some form of polymer sheet which I can place over my notes so that only I, sitting directly in front of them, can see the notes. I’m thinking in terms of the polarising sheets I was shown in school many years ago which only passed light through when they were orientated in a certain way.

I do appreciate that technology has moved on but I’m not certain if such a thing has been made. Due to the nature of the conference discussions, mobiles, netbooks, laptops and ipads etc are banned from the conference room.

I would be very grateful for any suggestions.

Thank you.

By information perhaps you mean your thoughts. If they are that important try to remember them. Or try writing under the table with paper on your knee. Not that I believe a word of it!

scotman, they are indeed junior to me. Having said that, they sit on the committee as they possess advanced qualifications in a subject that is so very specialised that their opinions have to be taken on board. They are announcing their opinions hours after official meetings via their divisional directors which eventually filter through to me.

I've always used written notes for many years and I prefer them to hand rather than see them on a screen. Personally, the banning of modern technological devices at conferences is no hardship to me.

DaisyNonna, they aren't my thoughts. Why should I write under the table? I've made clear that the notes are written prior to the conferences.

Trimeresurus, whilst I appreciate your comment, you've not substantiated it.
Sorry, but this sounds very much like a schoolboy who doesn't want his work to be copied by others. If you notes are so precious why have them exposed at the meeting.

Because I need to refer to them wildwood.

I find it extraordinary that virtually all posters are more interested in my circumstances than telling me if such an item is available to purchase. Let's return to the original question please.
3M do privacy filters for screens that cut down the viewable angle using a form of "louvre" technology (if I remember correctly). Not sure it would work with standard written notes. Some of the older ones might.
Another possibililty I remember from the "TV Times" quiz board game is a form of obfuscation, 2 colours, text is light blue, obfuscating colour was red "scribbles" type of pattern, which could be filtered by a red see-through plastic sheet. Not very convenient or subtle though.

The best suggestion I can come up with is a notebook with a verticle spine which you do not open all the way, which will offer you a modicum of privacy for your notes from the sides and lean back whilst you read them. Think like a card player, and if anyone gives you a hard time remind them of the need for confidentiality.
Hope this helps, and let me know if you find a good answer.
