At last they have found one, will their new series become like a 'where's wally' competition.

Maybe the BBC should now also extend it to their 'Proms' coverage,. because I think it would also be very difficult to find a black person amongst that audience.

You don't know what your talking about unfortunately - you've fallen into the silly trap that the uninformed ALWAYS fall into with regards to the MOBO award.

Professor Green and Plan B walked away with well deserved MOBOs in 2010.

Put their names into a search in Google, and then describe what their racial background is.

Seriously - don't try to claim the MOBOs are in any way racist. It's a common error that some other posters here fall into.

Fortunately, the producers of the MOBOS aren't idiots like this True-May fool....can you imagine if they said that they wouldn't include any White acts, because that wouldn't reflect the 'urban landscape'?

No - that kind of rubbish only seems to leak out of the mouths of a certain disgusting demographic...
From Bergerac to Midsomers, do you think he'll get a long service medal?
John Nettles was given one recently, an "Other Buqqers Efforts" I believe.
I used to fancy him in Bergerac.
sp I was always under the impression that HATE was the sign of a bigot. Pot calling kettle non-white?

'No one is being harmed'?

Crap.

When black and Asian actors are excluded from roles because if their race, when there is NO reason but for the ill-informed prejudices of a television executive - someone is being harmed. Their career is being compromised for no reason.

Of course, Whoopi Goldberg is never going to play Margaret Thatcher, but there is absolutely no reason why Adrian Lester couldn't play a lawyer in Midsomer Murders.

You yourself have said that some people 'don't know where they're not welcome' in reference to bigotry shown to gay men by certain religious extremists.

I saw screw 'em. I literally couldn't give a damn for the feelings of those whose role in life is to spread hate...and with regards to political correctness...I was PC before the term was coined.

In my house, it was called 'common courtesy' - something that seems to be out of fashion nowadays,

The last time a thread was up about this show someone posted a link to an Asian actor that had been a star in this show

Aqualung
This episode had a Chinese Take Away in it and one of the main stars of this episode is Sai-Kit Young

How many links do some people need to see that he has not banned all black and Asian actors.
With regard to colour alientating some roles from some actors, this is not generally the case in informed casting productions- anyone remember the all black cast of Othello, with Patrick Stewart playing the lead as the only white actor? There really wasn't any need for True-May's comments because they simply made no sense.
Dunno if the point has been made already, but one of the most popular shows (not with me) has token blacks and asians when in reality, considering where it is set, it would be literally all sorts of ethnic mixes. Eastenders. Realism in TV doesn't exist, but midsommer was more real that that has ever been in that respect.

Such people as sp1814 do more harm to racial harmony than any 100% true racist could ever hope to do.

He is not prepared to treat this ‘over the top’ incident for what it is, unimportant in this world that is going through much more serious issues.

He calls True-May a complete fool, a bigot, and a racist who is talking a whole load of crap, he also has his fingers crossed that he ruins his career.

And then sp has the nerve to state that 'common courtesy' seems to be out of fashion nowadays,

I have read and listened to many comments on this issue and the majority cannot see anything offensive has taken place, it is interesting to note however that quite a few of those supporting Mr True-May were both black and Asian who said they enjoy Midsommers Murders just the way it is.

sp also says “How dare anyone dispute his Englishness” well I’m afraid to say I must dispute that fact, he may be British but he is not English, just the same as a white person of English parents, born in Mumbai would not be Indian, or likewise a white person born in Kingston would also not be Jamaican, Chris Eubank tried to take himself off as the perfect English gent, by dressing as the stereotype Englishman but that also did not make him English..

So be careful sp when you say, “I am proud to be intolerant of bigots and racists. I hate them with all my heart for the sh!t they spread around the world”, because you could be referring to yourself.
<<likewise a white person born in Kingston would also not be Jamaican>>

Factual error I'm afraid.

There are a large number of 'white jamaicans'. It is something of a melting pot you know. I have a friend from university days who may well be genetically european (he certainly looks it) but very proud to be a Jamaican born and bred from a family that traces its roots back there over 80 years. And yes he does have a slight accent.

And before anyone mentions 'Real Jamaicans'....

We murdered all of them about 400 years ago.

Lebanese, Syrian, English, Scottish, Irish, and German Jamaicans make up a smaller racial minority but are still very influential both socially and economically.>>

"Such people as sp1814 do more harm to racial harmony than any 100% true racist could ever hope to do"

What, sp1814 is worse than Hitler, then? That takes manic exaggeration to previously undreamt-of levels.
AOG

Your opinions and those of True-May and other elderly bigots are of no interest to me.
I never claimed that the MOBO awards were racist, SP. They are about as racist as Midsomer Murders. It would be interesting, though, to note the reaction if a MOWO award system was set up. Still, no matter.

I'm interested to note that you have no interest in the opinions of Mr True-May or AOG.I suppose that's why you've made six or seven contributions to AOG's question!

I think we've done this to death and I'm pleased to say I think we've both remained courteous throughout. There is, of course, a wide difference between having a different opinion and being discourteous.
