I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me shall never hunger and he that believeth in me shall never thirst. - Mark 16:16

Excuse me, but may I just mention the many third world countries, where by sending in missionaries over the past centuries we have managed to convince millions of poor people that their salvation is to believe in this God and in the bible? These people are among the most religious in the world. So, where is this ... "shall never hunger, shall never thirst " that was promissed?

Why on earth do people believe in a book that is so harmful, so full of lies? Why do we have so many people who follow religions based on the bible and yet have never read the dreadful threats whithin, i.e. if your children disobay you, they should be stoned to death etc etc etc.

It all makes me sick!!

Snafu03, ive just seen one of your questions: http://www.theanswerb...l/Question961405.html I think it is you that needs to stick to Mr Men books judging by your mentality of that question.
so you are attempting to discredit me by searching through my entire Q&As to pick up on any non-serious matter? Haha, beautiful! Do you work for the News of the World!
Snafu, I dont need to discredit you, you done that yourself!
Snafu.. how can I tell when I am reading an allegory.in the bible. and how do I know how to interpret it. Can I use my own judgement? or has the church decided for us what are allegories. Also can I ignore the bits that I disagree with (see earlier)?
The quote isn't to be taken literally, unless you think dead folk don't hunger nor thirst. Surely it is about knowledge & understanding of the spiritual that is being alluded to ?

Oh 3 pages worth already, well I'll post anyway.
I expect then that the "everlasting life" is also allegorical too so those who are expecting it to be literal will be disappointed.
Hi Beso.. I like that 'interpretation'. here is my take on it as an allegory. 'Life will be so tedious and miserable that it will seem to last forever'
snafu, are you suggesting that humans are responsible for droughts, baking sun that makes is almost impossible to grow crops, and diseases like cholera etc?
Dont know about religion but humans have caused drought and will continue to do so by climate modificatiob and poor farming practice.
ancient books of blind faith are fiction,

written in a time of greater illiteracy they cannot possibly have any accuracy,

many times and i am not alone, i have read an article in a newspaper reporting something about which i have a deal of knowledge and invariably there are factual errors and that is today with instant communication,

even now tell a story to someone and 5 stages down the line the story will be greatly different, so stuff passed by word of mouth and then scratched on a tablet by the bloke who could write...... have no credence,

they are stories and by all means enjoy the tale, but dont live your life hanging on every word.......... consider intelligence as an option
