Can you paint an oven hotplate?

I accidentally melted a plastic spatula on my oven hotplate! I managed to scrape most of the plastic off but the hotplate still looks a state.

Can you buy paint to use on hotplates to make them look like new?

I would turn it on full and burn off the residue - with the windows open.

Burn it off.
There's no paint that will take the temp.

One option would be a hotplate cover.
