My two (nearly three) year old son had a nose bleed today. One minute he was fine and the next his elder brother was shouting for me to come and see him (I was making lunch in the kitchen) and he had blood everywhere. It wasn't pouring but there was quite a bit of blood spread over his face (and his sister). He hadn't hit himself on the nose and I don't see how it can have bleed that much if he had been picking his nose (sorry!). Just one of those things or something to see the doc about? Thanks.

Don't worry about it Sherrard. I suffered with nose bleeds a lot when I was little and my mum took me to see an ENT specialist. There was nothing wrong. Go and check it out with your GP for reasurance.

Hi tigger - I used to have nose bleeds myself and had to have my nose cauterised (sp), none of the others have ever had one so was just checking for reassurance (this is the one that can't speak so can't get much sense out of him). Thanks, hope little tigger is ok.
Lt Tiggs is fine Sherrard, his first tooth appeared last weekend :o)))

I didn't have any treatment although the capilleries (sp) in my nose were very sensitive.
Don`t talk to me about nose-bleeds....I said don`t.............or I`ll have you weeping.
I definitely think there's something about air pressure and nose bleeds. My daughter would get sore heads and nose bleeds whenever the weather got milder or when it was quite humid during the summer from the age of about 3 to 7 or so - and it has been a lot milder here at least for the past couple of days.
.....It might not happen again but if it does, then just nip his nostrils, lean him forward over a sink or bowl until it stops.

Remember that a child on that age hasn´t so much blood to lose.

It probably is due to a prominent blood vessel over one part of the lining of the nose called "Little´s Area" and may need cauterizing.

No big deal at the moment, but if it happens again, then take him to A&E
