How to burn files to a disc!

I know it is probably dead easy, but I have only made CDs before, and DVDs using Encore. I now want to add files to a disc (DVD-R? or CD-R?). I want to add a .mov (Quick Time movie) file and probably an mpeg or avi. I'm trying to see if I can take files from my PC and import them to a Mac. But how do I actually get these files onto a disc?! Is there a standard burning program in Windows XP?

If you're putting them on a CD then the standard program is XP itself, simply right click on the files and select send to > your cd drive

If you are putting them on a DVD then you need an extra bit of software, you may have either nero or roxio installed already (check your start menu) as they are often included with new computers. if you've got nothing installed already then this is a good free bit of software for burning CDs and DVDs
