smoke alarm bleep

it's a new build and because of the design of the house there is a smoke alarm in each and every room and a heat sensor in the kitchen. The alarms went off about twice since we lived here because toast smoke left the kitchen and reached the nearest smoke detector so we pushed the 'hush' button still it took ages to turn off. Because they are all linked you should just press one hush button on your nearest alarm and it should turn the alarm off. ie you don't have to go to the source alarm. for some strange reason the alarm keeps just doing a loud bleep sound when ever it wants for no apparent reason sometimes we will not hear it for days and then three times in a day? We have no instructions for the alarm or system, as it is mains driven I have checked the fuse box but see nothing wrong there. I have checked all alarms and they all have the green light.

I have tried to look up instructions here I don't know what the exact model is without opening but i think its the 160 or 140 or low voltage model, instructions all seem the same.

http://www.aico.co.uk...oad-instructions.html

But it mentions 'full' alarm sounding, and bleeps which last over 20 minutes this means the backup battery is depleted. Nothing about random one bleeps?

Anyone have any clues
Thanks in advance

Incase of Mains failure there should be a back up Battery in each Sensor. One of the Batteries is running low hence the Bleeps.
Do you own your Property or is it run by Housing Association.

it's a private rental, already contacted the landlord about a plumbing issue and he won't get in contact. I don't feel confident enough to fix the alarms myself.
Your Landlord should send an Electrician round to check the Alarms as they are his responsibility. Alarms should be checked on a regular basis, maybe once a Month.
Tell your Landlord about the Alarms, but if you are wary of Electrics it's best left alone.

p.s how would you know which battery is low? there's one heat sensor and 11 smoke detectors. all the detector lights are the same on each unit and the bleep doesn't appear to come from any one alarm....

sounds more like a general fault warning indicating a problem in the system itself ours does it now and again then stops...its like the chinese water torture sitting there waiting for the next beep
Landlord needs to get it checked as it may mean the system could fail in the event of a fire
Sometimes one Emergency Battery will serve all the sensors rather than one Battery in each. Best tell your Landlord and get him to send round an Electrician.

The Aico range are generally good ..however if any dust or fumes get into the detection chamber they will chirp to warn you.Try blowing into the front chamber to get rid of any dust.
It may also be a low battery (in some models) others have lithium cells. If it persists find the culprit and change it....they slide off the base..away from the screwdriver slot on the side.
BTW...you usually have to hush them on the unit detecting the smoke/ heat...the red light flashes rapidly on this unit.
