I live in a semi detached house, the people in the other semi have been repossessed. Or so we have been told, the thing is they have dismantled the conservatory and taken it away. I don't think that is legal, I thought it belonged to the house, anyway it was the previous owners who had it installed. Talk about cheek, he is not a nice guy (in and out of jail.)

Would you ever do anything like that? I expect he will remove the light fittings as well.

when I moved into my house the light fittings had gone.. just wires hanging from the ceilings!
My friend moved into a house where they had taken the fireplaces with them.
It I fell on hard times and my house was re-possessed I would take the Conservatory (its Dog eat dog out there :( )
I'd leave the light fittings though.
If the conservatory was part of the fixtures and fittings and was in with the purchase price, then no they cannot take it with them.

Den53 thats what I was just about to say. If the houses were bought you agree with the seller what is being left. I would take light fittings as a given and definately wouldnt buy from someone who said they would be taking hte light fittings.
I bet the conservatory is on Ebay.....
Roof tiles and bricks can be worth quite a lot too.
This is a common thing with repo's.
The people are being forcibly ejected from their home, they resent this, so they take anything/everything that they possibly can.
It is not an agreed sale in the normal way where you agree on what is being included in the sale.
As far as leaving bare wires though, I don't think it is right to leave things in such a dangerous condition.

marval did say that its word of mouth that its been re-possessed.Sorry marval but I am laughing at your OP -how many judgemental remarks can be made about a person based on hearsay....apart from he's been in and out of jail which I assume is true lol (no offence meant -just read it back)

He has definately been in jail, but the repossession is what my neighbour told us. He was told by a friend of the owner, but the conservatory does belong to the house. If it is sold, whoever sells it will not get as much. I will be glad if new people do move in, I am fed up with the swearing, shouting and loud music at all times.
if my house is repossessed I'd cash in copper/lead/tiles/bricks/glass, everything possible.
You should be a happy bunny then marval......you could also go round and help yourself, chimney pots, the fencing, any garden shed, radiators, some nice old doors, etc etc - could make ourself a nice bob or two and then blame it on Mr Misery - after all you are due some compensation for them bringing your house value down and that you have to wait for the new owners to upgrade the stripped shack.
At the end of the day its really nothing to do with anyone is it? Ignore the gossips would be my advice.
Just be glad youre getting rid if he's that bad .
O and just to re-iterate to your original Q -I would take anything I could.Cant get blood out a stone -if youre so unlucky and so skint to have your house repossessed (happens to decent people as well) then just imagine watching your house going under the hammer to opportunists for half the price.
My next door nieghbour hadn`t paid rent for weeks and was ordered out, leaving behind his dog`s poo on the newly laid floor, and it`s still there waitng for the owner to clean it up, but she apparently doesn`t care either. The rear garden is in a worse state also, and we have to live near it.
The house will go for a song anyway - with or without a conservatory. Been there, done that and it made me sick. If the bank had been happy to lower my mortgage payments instead of selling it for less than half what I'd bought it for, then I'd never have had to lose it.
