Has anyone had a problem with their Merc losing acceleration for no reason - particularly when driving on motorways?

 is it diesel/petrol when was it last serviced, could be the fuel filter is partially blocked and restricting fuel, provides enough for normal driving but cant keep up with the demand.

Could be throttle position sensor even without full details of vehicle it can be difficult.
