Sarah Palin for President?
It seems the left have a new figure of hate, the amont of general sla66ing Palin is getting is getting to the stage where the public are starting to warm to her. With that in mind do you think she will get more support than she otherwise would? I would certainly love her to win the presidency, anyone who winds up the lefties like her must be doing somethng right!

Just today, Mitt Romney, the past Governor of Massachusetts, won a straw poll with 35% of the vote. He's always been lurking in the background and would have an excellent resume' based on his business experience. Problem is, he was primarily responsible for a State run health program in Massachusetts very similiar to the wildly unpopular "Obamacare" debacle we've just been through, that he will have a difficult time convincing a lot of folks that he wouldn't do the same as President, or at least differentiating between his and Obama's.
Additionally, he's a Mormon, but that might not be a show stopper... don't know...
I think it's fair to say that, at the present time, no front runner for the Republicans has emerged. I've herad lots of wild assed rumors but the one about the Secret service ordered to "take out" Palin has got to be the cake taker... So, if it's the Secret Service, who would know,just for starters...Sheeesh!

Clanad, surely it's way too late for 2012. My recollection of both Obama and Bush Jr is that both hit the headlines within a month of the previous election; it took them a full four years to build up enough support - not to convince their own party (which is eager to be convinced), but to convince the nation. Palin has had this full term but so far appears only to have persuaded the Tea Party sector; she is still, even by your own assessment, immature. 2016 may be another matter.

I was under the impression that what wrecked your country (and the world economy) was incredibly shoddy legislation that allowed banking institutions to massively over-invest in toxic mortgages. They then criminally mis-sold these toxic debts on to other countries by deliberately and wilfully disguising their toxic nature, leading inexorably towards the financial meltdown that we're all now desperately trying to recover from.

As for being outspoken... we have a very outspoken chap in the UK called Nick Griffin. He's very outspoken. He's also a moron because he believes that white people are somehow 'better' than black people. Being outspoken is no measure of intelligence.
And as for her ability to handle a gun very well, so what? All that proves is that she has good hand-eye coordination. I also have good hand-eye coordination as do billions of other people on this planet. The point is irrelevant in a discussion about the suitability to govern.

OK I will probably get into this tussle, I live in Alaska. I would like to point out that I admire her in many ways, I have mixed feelings about her running for pres., for example, other candidates have been on the shallow side such as George W. And look where we landed with that one. There were probably others in the past with shallow intellect.
One thing I have thought about, when Mayor of Wasilla, the duties did not include the usual headache duties (and difficult) such as property assessment. Properties were handled by the Borough. She did do the library, police and fire department like most mayors., and the ceremonial things. I thought she did an excellent job as Gov. got behind and passed many things I thought were good for the state.
I thought how may people (women) could have handled being Governor, keep a pregnancy secret, have a Downs syndrone baby, find out her daughter is single and pregnant by a jerk, and then the next week or so appear before a zillion people and the national scene. I admired her for her physical and mental stamina for that one. Let alone the professional handlers that treated her badly.
However, I could never vote for someone who is against personal choice for a women for abortions. If she had her way they would not be legal. Guess what, abortions will always be around, if only done by a coat hanger. If I were pregnant and carrying a Downs. S. baby, there would be a streak of (me going fast) to the nearest abortion clinic. So now I will duck and face the onslaught by the christian "right." No pun intended.

It appears that you glean a lot of your ideas and information from the left leaning press here in the U.S. or elsewhere. It's a telling factor for me when the Washington Post, N.Y. Times and Los Angeles Times all have the same opinion as what your espousing.

Secondly, with all the hoopla surrounding our current President, his experience level consisted of two years as a U.S. Senator wherein he missed 314 (24%) of 1,300 roll call votes, sponsored 121 bills of which 115 never made it out of committee and is considered the least known President in the history of the U.S. Compared to Palin, she's an open book.

Perhaps I am the only one around who finds political discourse in the "civilised", "democratic" world's pandering to the lowest (and reducing) common denominator distinctly discouraging. Perhaps I am the only one around who longs for a collection of capable and, yes, intellectually well endowed people to emerge to rescue us (me) from the hordes of banal, mediocre "leaders" in awe of the popular vote and "public opinion" (usually deliberately ill informed). Perhaps I am the only one around who wishes the general obsession with unworthy "big issues" would disappear up the rear end of those who waste their time and mine on them. Perhaps I am the only one around who believes that if the world and its people were properly governed we would have a very real possibility of defeating every one of life's significant challenges and do away with the misery that people in every corner of the world (not least within the USA) have to put up with. However, I know I am not the only one who is utterly convinced that not only will none of us be brought any nearer to any impartially beneficial ideal by the likes of Sarah Palin, but moreover the politics and system of government and influences on it that dominates the American Way will not do so either - unless indirectly by stark illumination of its downsides. There are people who have a sneaking suspicion that the current (political/government/constitutional) situation in the USA is leading inexorably to a collapse of sorts because there appears to be no solution in sight regarding internal tensions - I find that argument somewhat compelling but also rather depressing. I would not enjoy being a witness if it happens during my lifetime, I would rather that the USA sorts out its apalling domestic situation and grows up because I believe that would benefit the rest of us.

A reversal of that argument would be to say that every single person who leans towards the right of the political spectrum enjoys killing animals for fun... but that's an absurd suggestion. As for her cleaning her own kills which, “... provides meals for her family...” are you suggesting that she kills animals purely for consumption and not just for the hell of it? If you are, you're kidding yourself.
