"Withnail and I"

Apart from being bad grammar, does anyone rate this film as highly as it is reckoned by the ? Every time it has appeared on television, I have attempted to watch it, just to see why it merits such acclaim and each time I fail to be touched. It was on again last evening with the highest accolades under the information tag. What am I missing? Does anyone agree with me?

I think it's a work of genius. Genuinely incredible script, sparkling delivery, great direction, excellent casting...

Course everyone's taste is different. I watch the highly rated Black Swan last night and didn't think a whole lot of it.

The chicken bit is quite funny and the drug dealer with the weird accent.

I've tried several times to be bothered with it and it does not hold my interest but i;m probably not 'getting it' or something, but i don't care lol

i´m with you dotty, tried to watch it twice, but just couldnt get into it. mind you it didnt help when i was told it was going to be the best film i´m ever likely to see.

Its a bit annoying when people rave on and on about a film then you see it and don't think much about it.

I've also tried watching it about 5 times, but have only managed about half an hour each time.. I'm baffled!

It only started being a trendy film about 5 or 6 years ago, before that it was just ordinary

Mr Tiggs kept going on and on about Fight Club so I watched it and it went completely over my head.

I never understood why The French Lieutenant's Woman won Oscars either - I thought it was dreadful. I quite enjoyed Withnail and I. Each to his/her own I guess.

It's disastrous to be told a film is great - I was so disappointed by One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest, after all the hype.

Really? I rate both Withnail and I and One Flew Overt the Cuckoos Nest. On the whole agree with Whickerman's comments.

I also have seen Black Swan and didn't like it. EAch to their own I guess.
