What you want to try is the lasre treatment. My Mother smoked for 40 years, went for that, and hasn't smoked since. And she was on 40 a day. No where near that price either.
My father, grandfather, great aunt and my brother gave up like that, no problem. I did struggle for some time. Maybe it's just who you are, but if you can structure your day differently to take away the cravings and find something else to do, you may find some help there. I used to smoke 30 a day - I don't envy anyone who smokes and wish you the very best of luck - as for hypnotism - I had it for confidence and It did me f**k all good.  You need to want to do it yourself. Best Wishes.
I found Inhalators are the best thing by far.  You get a boost of nicotine without all the nasties and still have the hand to mouth action which is often missed. AND your GP can prescribe them for you so it can be very cheap!  Good Luck

I have a friend who took hyonotherapy, it worked for two weeks, a workmate also used it, about eight years ago, and he has'nt had one since. I used lozenges after trying all sorts of other things, and so far, two years now.

In the end, whichever aid you chose, if you really want to stop, it'll probably work.

This bloke, though full of himself at times, knows what he's talking about. "The Easy Way to Stop Smoking" (his book), together with patches, worked for me. I set myself a date to stop a fortnight ahead and had my last fag at 23.55 on 30/4/04. I've never wanted one since after being on 60 a day. I still can't believe I've done it.

Good to hear your giving up!!!

so hows it been going? how long has it been since you last had a good one?!!!

take care & keep up the good work

Dear Dove

Hypnosis will surely do the trick if you have the motivation. I know it sounds like an easy way for the hypnotherapists to cover themselves but it is true. I smoked 30 per day and gave up 2 weeks ago with NLP (Neuro Linguistic Programming). It is much easier than hypnosis (although hypnosis isn't that hard considering you relax and someone just talks you throught it!) as you do not need to be hypnotised. You are awake and it shouldn't take more than 45 minutes.  It is really simple and you can do it yourself...

dove - just in case it doesn't work out for whatever reason, please give the Allen Carrs book a go - it's called "the easy way to stop smoking"  ..... trust me it is.(7.99 from most book shops) whatever you do it just do it and good luck!

sorry all, have failed miserably so far .

going to try again   :-(

Sorry to hear you didnt do it!

It cant be the right time for you to give up,maybe you have something  or someone on your mind right now?

You have to be in the right frame of mind to stop.

But best of luck for you when you try again!

Keep in touch Dove!

I used the nicotinell clear patches....got em cheap off ebay( 3 packs for the price of one if you're lucky)....I had smoked for 20 years and they actually worked...i had tried every other way before and not stopped......but, make sure you do the whole of the 10 week course though as I thought I was clever and didn't buy the last 2 weeks worth....I started again.... I dont smoke half as much now ...but I didn't want a fag for eight weeks while I was on these
