O/H decided in his wisdom on Friday at the Fishmongers that he would have cod roe as he hadnt had it for years -looked disgusting.....
Just had a taste and its the fishiest fish thing i have ever had the displeasure of tasting -its awful and now I cant gt rid of the taste or the smell:(
I adore fish, but not fish roe. My parents used to regularly have soft roe on toast for tea!!! The texture is enough to put anyone off. You can keep caviar. Just had a lovely dinner of sea bream!!
I am the opposite of lottie - not keen on many fish dishes but love cod roe, lightly floured, fried and served on toast with vinegar - delish. Always reminds me of my dad - one of his favourite buys at the fishmongers.
I love roes on toast.Lidl have got a kilo of frozen whole scampi for 6.99 at the mo so that's what I have for tea, with chips. DH is having battered cod, he has plebian tastes.
Well ttfn -H just gently fried it and made me taste it and it was pungent and I do love fish -in fact its my favourite food.He wolfed the lot -and he is going back for more -reminded him when he was young as that was the last time he had it.Maybe lighly floured with vinegar might make it less 'fishy' .Good you have memories of it -my neihbour treats it like a delicacy -mind you at that price it is !!
woogang -a kilo for £6.99 -im there -thanks for the heads up :)
I am not running my freezer at the moment. 1 kilo of scampi - might just have a blow out then lol. Tell you what Dris, I used to love kippers because dad would fillet them so well for me. If I do it myself I always end up with a mouthful of bones. Just call me the Queen Mum.
<<don't even go there Dris...>>>
