Do fish have a sense of smell? Also, when you drop fish food into the bowl, how do they immediately know it is food?

Q: What smells worse than an Anchovy?
A: An Anchovies bottom!
Not sure about their sense of smell, bu my god my lot certainly know when i've dropped food in their tank! It's immediate their reaction.

Yes. A fish's sense of smell is even better than a dog. They can detect better than one molecule in a million.

Dispite the believe that goldfish have a 10 second memory span, they soon learn that lifting the top of the tank/bowl is followed by food being dropped in the water - clearly dispelling the memory myth.
