Had a conversation with a friend last night and she said 2011 was the start of a new decade - I disagreed.

Its not a new decade is it?

1990 was the start of the Nineties, 2000 was the start of the Noughties, so surely 2010 was the start of the new decade. There has been ten years between 2000 and 2010.

Am I missing something?

It is really all academic. On your 21th birthday you begin the year of your 22th year but remain 21 until that year ends.

For those that disagree let them argue that we are now not in the 21th century.

Our calender started on 1th January in the year 0 AD
The year before that it was 0 BC

You really do need to see a specialist...
Apart from the 0 AD bit, I see no need to mock a poster merely because he/she hath a lithp :-)
Don't worry about it Mike11111, most know that MarkRae specialises in picking holes in people's posts instead of offering a possible solution or even try to share an intelligent thought.
