I believe pine nuts which come from the inside of the hard casing of a pinecone are aka the Indian nut.

Don't know if this is of any help but there is an Indian Bean Tree which is grown in the UK quite regularly.
Latin name is Catalpa Bignonoides

My reason for asking, I have been sent details of a house for sale by an estate agent, and in the description it says there is an Indian nut tree in the garden. The only tree I can see on the photo looks about 20' tall - and dead!

A surveyor will say it's roots may be undermining the foundations and that further movement monitoring should be carried out.  Depends how close it is to the house.
