. . . Charge you the adult price for something, then refuse to sell you alcohol/ cigarettes etc.

And if so is it only because of the challenge 25 thing, and if that didn't exist could they not do the above anyway?

see second part of my answer then

"Any establishment can refuse to sell you what ever they want."

and they don't have to give a reason. It's not a legal right to be able to buy something it's up the the seller if they want to sell it to you or not. (as long as they are not refusing for age, sex, race or disability reasons.)
what you are really saying is that if they accept that you are an adult for admission purposes l.e. 18 in his case, then they should serve you beer and cigs without demanding any POA
Here is a question, should a ticket to entry be considered a form of age verification within the establishment?

This is the key point however Molly:

"Any establishment can refuse to sell you what ever they want."
Things like admission prices, fares etc are commercial decisions and is up to the customer to take the offer or not. The rules re sale of alcohol and cigarettes is the law of the land and therefore outside any decision made by customer or business.
that;s what I just wrote ed,

Exactly dotty -> 'what you are really saying is that if they accept that you are an adult for admission purposes l.e. 18 in his case, then they should serve you beer and cigs without demanding any POA'
Molly don;t agrtee with me and ignore the other issue which is that they can reuse to sell/serve you anything. if you asked for an adult asmission under the delusion that that would but you a ticket to buy alcohol inside that's a fools idea, the people selling entrance tiockets sell you what you ask for
It's the law of the land as mamy said.

You may look 18 for admission/fares prices but to sell alcohol or cigs they need the proof otherwise they're out of business and everyone suffers.
Any establishment reserves the right to serve you anything, whatever your age.
'Good afternoon Mollykins, please come into my theme park where you must be aged 18 to ride'

'20 Bensons please Mr Fag Seller' says Molly inside park
'Can you prove you are 18'?
'No, but I got in here where you have to be 18' says Molly
'You can't be prosecuted for allowing an underage person riding the big wheel, I can be prosecuted for selling fags to under 18's' replies Mr Fag Seller
