Now it is not safe to walk some British streets, especially if one is elderly and happens to wear an ex-serviceman's blazer.

These two cowardly and knuckle-dragging scum, should be hunted down, and feel the whole weight of justice rained down upon them.

# Also, going off the dates and his age, he was almost certainly conscripted into National Service. I am sure it was all very character forming #

My friend served in Aden and he was certainly NOT conscripted into National Service.
You would do well at The Guardian they like to make things up. //

The man is 69 which means when he was 18, in 1959, he would have HAD to do National Service. National Service was ended in 1960, but the last recuits did not finish it until 1963. We pulled out of Aden in 1966. If your friend did not do National Service but was at Aden, I am guessing he was younger than 18 in 1960, but voluntarily sign up shortly after.

to find Anotheoldgit making the same absurd comparison between his vast question-list as opposed to someone else's...in this case, mine! (At least, it seems to be mine, though he got my user-name there - like so much else - quite wrong.)
Scrolling to Answer 7 on Page 4 of the thread, you will see his claim - in both paragraphs 2 and 3 - that I had posted a number of AB questions (quote) "ONLY" in the fifties.
I still think that dividing his quota by mine makes me about three dozen times brighter than he is, despite his accusation of thickness.
As he repeatedly draws the comparison, it is perfectly clear that he truly imagines question-quantity is vital evidence of intelligence and of one's value here. Sadly, there is little point in trying to reason with one for whom phrases involving Toc H lamps, short planks and so forth might have been specifically created.
It's not only the elderly who face danger on our streets.
