There are many on this site who are always ready to condemn or criticise our police at every given opportunity, but fail to give their praises and thanks to those who's job it is to protect us all.

A terrorist bomb cannot define between those who show support for their handlers causes, or those that don't.

It is just the same with our police their job is to make sure that our streets are safe to walk in, no matter whether or not you support them

I don't think it's the police that deserve our praise here - I suspect it's MI5, GCHQ and people like that we should be thanking.
Yes

They mostly do a very good job.
They are human beings - sometimes they cock-up
Sometimes as individuals
Sometimes as institutions

We should acknowledge and deal with all those instances appropriately.
You're right. We should post thanks on here on each and every occasion that somebody does the job they are paid to do.
I'll start us off:

Thanks Mr Postman.
Thanks Mr Telephone engineer, my phone is still working.
Thanks supermarket delivery driver.
Thanks airline pilot, you didn't crash into my house again today.
Thanks, Samsung and Asus workers, bith my monitors are still working.
Thanks Philips management and employees - I've had another successful shave.
Thanks - Oh wait a minute, wouldn't it be simpler and more efficient if I just expected you all to do your jobs, and complained when you don't?
Thanks to everybody in the security departments, just hopei f they are found guilty they will never be released from prison, sorry holiday camps!
rojash,

Most of the jobs you mentioned in your post dont take their life in their hands everyday!
After watching some of the police shows on TV (Road Wars, Brit Cops Frontline etc etc), I think they deserve all of our support when I see the abuse they get all the time.
Indeed I am grateful to all those who help society to be safer or function better, as indeed I hope others are grateful for my contribution to society too.
I am very grateful that our police are doing such a great job in rounding up these murderous scum - and with their hands tied with PC.
PC tied by PC !

shame they cant give some of them a good kicking...well m'lud he tripped awkwardly and happened to fall onto the end of my boot...numerous times

if only
If only - that would be the treatment in their beloved Islamic countries.
Are you not bothering with the jury and a verdict before assuming guilt. I will wait for a guilty verdict before patting the authorities on the back.

I'm full of praise for them. Keeping the streets clear of samurai swordsmen can't be easy.

lol
The police do a fantastic job the vast majority of the time. However, in this case, I think praise needs to be directed (as JTP has already mentioned) at the 'invisible' people in the security services, who quietly guarantee our safety 'under the radar'.

But let's not lose our faculty to criticize where criticism is justified. There is no organisation in the country which is without itS failings, be it retail banks, the rail network, teachers, the Royal Mail or social workers. All deserve praise, but they never really get praised until they do something 'over and above the call of duty'.

We forget that every day, they all do something which enriches us one way or another.

Jimmy Saville - we must wait, trail by media is not right[i

[i]SOme muslims - trail by media is fine now actually]

No trial by media here, here's six who have themselves admitted guilt.

That's good enough for me.

/// Naweed Ali, 24, Ishaaq Hussain, 20, Khobaib Hussain, 20, and Shahid Khan, 20, have pleaded guilty to engaging in conduct in preparation for terrorism by travelling to Pakistan in August last year for terrorist training. ///

/// Ahmed, the fundraiser for the terror cell, has admitted preparing for terrorism by collecting money and investing it for terrorist acts, and by assisting others to travel to Pakistan for terrorist training. ///

/// Mujahid Hussain, 21, who was said to be heavily involved in raising money for terrorism, has also pleaded guilty. ///
I think your missing something here, deliberately or not, it is very obvious from the story the intelligence for this could only have originated from one source.

They may have took care of the intelligence which in turn entrapped these traitors, but it was the police who put their lives on the line in their quest to arrest them.

/// They were among a total of 11 men and one woman arrested by 'POLICE' on various terrorism charges last September. ///

These pieces of scum should never be allowed to call themselves British citizens and should be stripped of all the rights and advantages that go with it.
