When should I tell her?

Mum happily eats pumpkin pie which has cream, nutmeg and turmeric in it. Yet she won't try my curry.

Today I made the second batch of soup which she hasn't had yet. If I tell her now what's in it, she won't believe that I put it in last time and probably won't eat any of this lot.

At what point should I tell her?

Whilst she is enjoying it, what is in it as Turmeric is not really a strong spice more an earthy taste.
why do you need to tell her at all? We humans are funny things - ie the curried goat thread earlier. If i had tasted it i would probably think it was nice, until i found out it was made of goat!
i had some pheasants the other day, and while they tasted ok, i just couldn't eat very much of them cause i knew it was pheasant,

Bednobs because i want her to at least try my curry and if she's had someonething else which has two of the main ingredients in she might think it's not going to be to bad.
Don't tell her what's in it, no need as long as she likes it. My brother used to hate onions but he would happily eat them in a stew or pie if my SIL didn't tell him they were there.
or does your mum just not like curry? Lots of people don't.
Well a curry is different the addition of coriander, cumin, chilli, cardamoms etc are a great deal different to turmeric and nutmeg.
If your mother does not appreciate your culinary expertise, just kick her off to her room with a stale peanut butter sandwich and a glass of lukewarm water!

She won't even try curry because she says they're too spicy and she doesn't like the flavours.

1) I don't actually put much chilli in it, only a few flakes and i mean about 5 flakes per person.

2) She likes the nutmeg and turmeric in the soup.
Make a very mild curry...DON'T tell her it's a 'curry'...give it some other name....then serve with a smile...see what happens. Your mum is making judgements on what she THINKS something is like....not the reality,by the sounds of it.
Oh...and you can also mention the health benefits of the various spices.
just tell her its a stew

Thanks pasta.

She knows i don't like stews so wouldn't make one.
Tell her if she eats the curry you will eat stew!
Try calling it a Malasian Hot Pot. If its from a recipe book just reduce the quanties of spice drasticaly to just allow the flavours to come through not the heat. Possibly cut out the cardamon and chilli as they are very strong flavours.
