Dris, why would you seek asylum in a country you hated, and that had invaded your homeland?

Bobjugs because to some with terrorism in their minds it would be easier for a revenge attack from within then from outside.
Maybe because they already had family here bob? I dont know -youre pretty bright and have been in the Military maybe you can say ?
Im only commenting on this particular thread btw NOT about WW1 WW2 or any other conflict so zee you can stop nodding your head so vigourously or it'll fall off.It would silly to suggest that we dont know what the commemoration of Armistice day represented and the part out Military played in allowing me to have the freedom I have today.Of course I shall always be indebted to them and I personally dont need reminded.
(Just as an addendum my BIL is a serving Lt Col and did 3 rounds of duty in Iraq/Afghanistan but is currently seconded to SA as part of a peace keeping force and my cousins husband also a Lt Col has just retired but also did same so I we all have a vested interest in the welfare of our Military)
Dris, I meant the question slightly TIC, but it's difficult to convey in writing lol
I have encountered very little hostility from Afghans and Iraqis I have met in the UK. I have even been given free kebabs by one fella from Basra, after we got talking a few weeks back. We ended up chatting for ages, until I got a shout, and he was full of nothing but gratitude for the effort made by the British. Generally, the people that are protesting our involvement in those countries in this manner are not from there, but Pakistani's, Saudis, Iranians, etc.
In much the same way that the biggest protestors about benifit cuts are not working class etc, but white middle-class bored housewives with nothing better to fill their time than percieved injustice against the 'peasants'
Rent-a-crowd, that is all
Now you put it that way bob:)
Im off to work (seriously) just in case you thought I was one of the white middle class (def TIC ) :)
